We have a Basset!

After much prayer and searching and exercising of patience, we have a Basset! We adopted her from the local Basset Rescue. Her foster mom brought her over today to meet us and we fell in love! She is the sweetest dog, ever! So loving and enjoys as much attention as we'll give her.

I want to encourage anyone looking for a dog to check out the breed rescues. They work hard to match up families with dogs so you are happy from the start. They really want to make sure that you and the dog will be a good fit. We wanted a dog that would be laid back, but friendly. We wanted one already house-trained and out of the puppy stage. This one is just perfect.

Her name is Ally and this is what they have about her on the website:

Ally is being returned to BHRG because her family lost their home. She is 3 years old and is red & white. Ally gets along with both younger and older hounds - enjoys playing in the yard. She is housetrained with a dog door and just enjoys being part of the family. Ally is not a picky eater and has fit into her foster family so easily. She is healthy, spayed, up-to-date on her shots, and ready to find a forever family.

What more could we ask for? Her only issue is that she is sensitive to certain grains (corn and wheat), so we will need to keep her on a special diet. She was scratching a lot and the change in diet has helped her. I can certainly relate to food sensitivities!

We're so excited about our new family member and can't wait to get to know her better!
